Hydrangea

This information is provided by EssentialsForWellnessNow.net

Not just another pretty face!

Extracts from the root of this stunningly colorful shrub offer support for the urinary system.

Early American settlers learned about wild hydrangea root from the Cherokee Indians who used it for kidney support.

Hydrangea root has also been used traditionally to support the prostate gland.

Hydrangea arborescens is also called smooth hydrangea, wild hydrangea and sheep flower. It grows across much of the eastern US and as far west as Kansas. This species of hydrangea likes moist soil and often grows in forests and near streams. Unlike its colorful cousins known for their eye-popping blue and purple hues, this hydrangea plant bears clusters of delicate, white flowers in the summer. Some have called it seven bark for its propensity to peel off in many layers of different-colored bark.

Hydrangea root was used by Native American groups for targeted kidney and urinary support. Native people shared this herb’s properties with early American settlers who continued using it for relief.

Hydrangea contains bitter compounds that may help encourage healthy intestinal elimination. Hydrangea also helps increase urine output.

Hydrangea also contains antioxidants such as quercetin, as well as minerals, including magnesium, potassium, zinc and a fairly high amount of calcium.
